| I moved! I am living in a much smaller city now and it is so great! I'm teaching English at an actual English center now. I haven't made any good friends yet, but I'm working on it. The center is a really good place to meet students though, so it shouldn't take too long. This city is not nearly as crowded as my old city and it is also much cleaner. This city is more traditional. I see a lot more girls covered than I did in Jkt. Guys and girls also touch a lot less. That is something I will have to get used to! In my old city, I only had 1 friend who wouldn't touch me, but here there are a lot more, or who will only "shake" hands VERY lightly. There are things I miss about my old city though - I can't remember the last time I went to Wendy's, and in Jkt I went 2 or 3 times a week! It is great to be on a team again, though, and have a roommate again. I definitely missed those for the short time that I didn't have them. Anyway, things are going better, and I am so happy about it.

| So it's been forever since I wrote on here, for which I apologize. For those of ya'll that have Facebook, I'm much better at keeping that up to date. It has been really crazy these past couple of months. My parents were here the whole month of June, during which we had our annual meeting on another island. Then I had to go to Thailand for another meeting, and Singapore on the way back to get a new visa. So I'm moving. Halfway through my time in a city where I thought I was going to be spending the next 2 years of my life I get a "just kidding! It's only 1 year!" My team is leaving me, so I was going to be left alone to do everythng. It's hard enough to spread everything out among 3 people, let alone one person! This also means that I was going to be living by myself which isn't a big deal in America, although I don't really like it there either, but it is an even bigger deal here. So I talked to the powers that be, and we have decided that I will move. It's pretty scary. I have to learn a new city, a new team, and a new job, although the job will be similar to what I'm doing now, just more structured. Yay for structure! I also have to leave my amazing friends here and make new ones there. I'm freaking out just a little bit right now. I don't do real great w/ change, especially big sudden changes, and that is exactly what this is. On top of that, it looks like my rm is going home a lot sooner than planned, so I may be moving even sooner than I had planned. So yeah, things are crazy. I'll let you know when they calm down!

| So this week and next week are crazy with people coming in and out! My roommate's (Kristin's) mom got here Monday. Patrick's mom and brother got here today. Andy, a student that has been gone for a month, is coming back tomorrow. Kristin's mom will leave on Sunday. My parents get here in a week! Then Kristin and Patrick's mom will leave on June 5, which is in 2 weeks. It's crazy! But it is so good. It's been fun to have Kristin's mom here. Everyone went over to Adam and Rebecca's tonight to eat. We had salad, baked potatoes, and tortilla trips w/ Ro-Tel. It was sooo good. Of course, everything at Rebecca's is good. Although I am still struggling sometimes to love it here, it is getting better. I have admitted that I don't always love it, and I think that was a big help. I am not nearly as homesick as I was in April, which is good. I didn't know it was even possible to be that homesick. But I'm much better now. I was the sickest last weekend I have been since I got here. It wasn't fun. But I got through it, and am much better now. I'm just glad that it took me 7 1/2 months to get sick! I got to do a "talk show" on Friday! It was so much fun. It wasn't actually on TV. An English Club that we help with was doing it, and I was a guest on the show and Patrick was the moderator. There were two national guests on the show also. It was lots of fun. I'm looking forward to the rest of this week and the next few weeks. I can't wait for my parents to get here! I hope this week goes by fast so I'm not bouncing off the walls too much. I'll be doing it anyway, especially next Wednesday. But it's only a week right? Well, it's getting late and I have language tomorrow, so I need to go! | | |
| Yes, I know it's been forever since I did an update on here, and for that, I am sorry. I just recently discovered how great Facebook is, so I've been playing on that instead of here. So I've now lived here for almost 6 months. Isn't that crazy? I can't believe it's already been that long. I'm really starting to get the hang of things now, and this huge city is feeling more and more like home every day. It's cool to think that I can get pretty much anywhere I want here. I never expected that to happen in a city with 15 million people. I can also talk so much more now than I could even a month ago. It's so great to understand the main point of a conversation and to be able to talk to someone beyond "what is your name" and "how are you?". Granted, I can't talk too much beyond that, but I'm working on it, and I'm figuring out creative ways to say something when I can't think of the word I need. It really does work! Yay for easy languages! I have been kinda homesick though. That's what happens when you've been here long enough to not be new anymore, but not long enough to be old. It's a strange place to be, but I guess somebody has to be there, right? Oh well, I'll get over it eventually. Have a great day! | | |
